A 14-year NBA Veteran, Amir Johnson took home a BIG3 championship in his first two seasons in the league. Johnson was a key big man for Trilogy in 2021, especially down the stretch; in the championship game, he put up 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. In 2022, he continued to help Trilogy dominate the paint en route to their repeat.
After entering the NBA straight out of high school, Johnson was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 2005 draft, making him the last direct-from-high school player to be drafted before the NBA’s 2006 rule requiring American players to be at least one year removed from their high school class’ graduation.
After four seasons in Detroit, Johnson joined the Toronto Raptors. He spent six seasons with the Raptors, averaging in double figures in 2012/13 and 2013/14. He later spent two seasons with the Boston Celtics and two more with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Johnson reached the playoffs in eight of his 14 NBA campaigns, and he clearly seems to have brought that knack for helping his teams succeed to the BIG3.
