After serving as co-captain of 3’s Company in the inaugural BIG3 season, DerMarr Johnson was promoted to captain in 2018. Johnson was one of the best four-point shooters in the league last year and helped 3’s Company make their first ever Finals appearance in the BIG3 under coach Michael Cooper.
After attending the University of Cincinnati, Johnson was the sixth overall pick of the Atlanta Hawks in the 2000 NBA Draft. In two seasons with the Hawks, he averaged 7.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. In September 2002, Johnson sustained serious injuries in a car accident. However, after a full recovery he moved on to the ABA’s Long Beach Jam, where he played 19 games before signing a contract with the Knicks in his return to the NBA. After that, Johnson played overseas for half a decade.
