The first overall draft pick in the inaugural BIG3 draft, Rashad McCants has been promoted to co-captain of Trilogy for 2018. McCants played a huge role in Trilogy’s undefeated run to the 2017 league championship. After starting all eight games during the regular season, McCants scored a game-best 22 points in the title win over the 3-Headed Monsters. For the season, McCants finished fourth in the BIG3 in scoring (18.3 points per game), sixth in 3-pointers (13), tied for third in 4-pointers (3), and tied for fifth in blocks (4).
McCants was the 14th overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft, selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played three-and-a-half seasons with the Wolverines and a half-season with the Sacramento Kings. After averaging 10.0 points per game in his four NBA seasons, he played professionally overseas for several years, including stops in China, Brazil, Lebanon and Venezuela.
Before turning pro, McCants had a stellar career at North Carolina, where he led the ACC in scoring as a sophomore and then helped the Tar Heels win the national championship as a junior in 2005.
