Entering his first season in the BIG3, Sam Young was taken with the sixth pick in the second round of the 2019 draft, 16th overall.
Born in Washington D.C., Young attended Friendly High School in Fort Washington, where he’d lead his team to state titles in 2003 and 2004 averaging 24.6 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocked shots per game as a senior. Young would join University of Pittsburgh and would become a two-time All Big-East player, third team All-American and Big-East Most Improved Player.
Young would get drafted in 2009, 36th overall to the Memphis Grizzlies. He’d play with Memphis from 2009 to 2012 and then have playing stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder before playing overseas starting in 2015.
Since then, Young has won a Lebanese Basketball Cup, Arab Club Championship and been named to the NBL All-Second Team.
