The final week of the BIG3 regular season continued today and four teams have cashed their ticket to the Bahamas for the playoffs.
Game 1: Tri-State 51 vs Triplets 36
Tri-State secured their spot in the BIG3 playoffs with the win in week 8. Tri-State are surging at the right time of the season with contributions from the whole roster. Tri-State had four players in double digits for scoring, led by big men Larry Sanders and Earl Clark with 14 each. Jason Richardson finished with 12 points in the win and played some lock down defense on Iso Joe. Justin Dentmon also had a strong impact off the bench, finishing with 11 points and four assists. Triplets were in the game early, but Tri-State used their size with Earl Clark and Larry Sanders to dominate the post. Iso Joe had 16 points and eight rebounds in the game, but he was the only one in double figure scoring for the Triplets. Both teams are headed to the Bahamas and Tri-State have the momentum on their side.
Game 2: Killer 3’s 51 vs Trilogy 48
In a game that went down to the wire the Killer 3’s came back and won on back to back buckets from CJ Watson with Trilogy one basket away from winning. Donte Greene was ejected early in the second half, but the Killer 3’s stepped up to win. Both teams are left waiting on the last game of the day between 3 Headed Monsters and Ghost Ballers to finalize the four playoff teams. Jarrett Jack was the game high scorer with 23 points for Trilogy. Killer 3’s had three players in double figure scoring to get the much needed win. CJ Watson led the way with 15 points seven rebounds and four assists. Donte Greene and Josh Powell each had 14 points in the win. Frank Nitty stepped up on the defensive end with one steal and three big blocks down the stretch.
*Updated after final game of the day: Killer 3’s will miss the playoffs after 3 Headed Monsters got the win against Ghost Ballers.
Game 3: Ball Hogs 34 vs Power 50
In a game to end the season on a high Power took a commanding 13 point lead into the half and kept it going to the end. Power finish the season with a (4-4) record. Ball Hogs finish with a (3-5) record. Dušan Bulut finished the season with a strong performance, scoring 21 points. Bulut added five rebounds and three assists. Derrick Byars chipped in 12 points and six rebounds in the win. Leandro Barbosa led the way for Ball Hogs with 13 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Jodie Meeks had 12 points in the loss. Ball Hogs couldn’t get it going from the outside shooting 3-13. Both teams will miss the playoffs in the 2021 season, but can both bring positives into the 2022 season.
Game 4: Ghost Ballers 37 vs 3 Headed Monsters 51
3 Headed Monsters locked up the final playoff spot in week 8 with a win over Ghost Ballers. Reggie Evans, Rashard Lewis and Kevin Murphy all had strong games for 3 Headed Monsters. 3 Headed Monsters round out the playoff teams to join Trilogy, Tri-State, and Triplets in the Bahamas. Reggie Evans finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Rashard Lewis had 15 points and 7 assists in the game. Kevin Murphy was the second double double of the game for 3 Headed Monsters with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Playoffs begin on August 28th from the Bahamas.
