*Due to the surge of COVID 19 cases across the country the BIG3 has narrowed the field to 8 teams after the bottom 4 teams were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs to prevent further outbreaks that have affected several of our players and staff over the past few weeks.
Game 1: Killer 3’s (4-2) vs Tri-State (4-2)
Killer 3’s knocked off the undefeated Triplets in week 6 to claim their 4th straight win. Killer 3’s have rounded into form at the right time of the season and need to continue if they want to stay in the playoff race. In week 6 Donte Greene had 23 points and 7 rebounds. Frank Nitty also had a big game with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists. This was the Killer 3’s best win of the season and will give them confidence down the stretch.
Tri-State got a tightly contested win against Ball Hogs in week 6 to get them to 4-2. Earl Clark led the way with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Jason Richardson had another big game finishing with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Nate Robinson rounded out the scoring for Tri-State with 12.
Tri-State have a tough opponent in front of them in week 7. Killer 3’s are surging, coming off four straight wins, looking for number five. This is a must win game for both teams if they want to stay in the playoff mix.
Game 2: Trilogy (4-2) vs Power (3-3)
Trilogy got a convincing win over Ghost Ballers in week 6. Jarrett Jack returned to the team and didn’t miss a beat. He led the team with 24 points 3 rebounds and 4 assists. James White also chipped in 13 points and 8 boards. Isaiah Briscoe didn’t have his usual impact, but Trilogy got the job done regardless. A win in week 7 puts Trilogy in a perfect position to make the playoffs in the Bahamas.
Power lost a close game to Aliens in week 6. They missed the physicality of Royce White in the game. Cuttino Mobley couldn’t have much of an impact on the game due to a lingering leg injury. Dušan Bulut led the way for Power with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Derrick Byars also chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds in the loss. Power are in need of a win in week 7 to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Much like the first game of the day this is a must win game for both teams, even more so Power. If Power fall to 3-4 their chance of making the playoffs becomes very slim. If Trilogy climb to 5-2 they basically seal their spot in the playoffs.
Game 3: Ball Hogs (3-3) vs 3 Headed Monsters (4-2)
Ball Hogs lost a close game to Tri-State in week 6. Leandro Barbosa and Jodie Meeks both had great games, but were the only real scoring for Ball Hogs. Barbosa finished with 25 points and 3 assists. Meeks had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in the loss. Meeks also made four 3 pointers. The duo of Barbosa and Meeks has been playing at a high level all season and they will need to have a big game to get a win against 3 Headed Monsters in week 7.
3 Headed Monsters got a strong win against Enemies in week 6. Reggie Evans won Microsoft Player of the Week honors for his performance of 20 points and 14 rebounds. The consistent scorer Kevin Murphy added 17 points in the win. Captain Rashard Lewis also had a double double with 13 points and 10 boards. Sitting at 4-2 a win in week 7, solidifies the 3 Headed Monsters in the playoff mix.
A win in week 7 keeps the Ball Hogs playoff hopes alive. 3 Headed Monsters can put themselves in a good spot to make playoffs with a win in week 7. Look out for the matchup between Kevin Murphy and Leandro Barbosa.
Game 4: Triplets (5-1) vs Ghost Ballers (4-2)
Triplets took their first loss of the season against the surging Killer 3’s in week 6. Iso Joe led the way for Triplets with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Alan Anderson added 11 points in the loss. This was the first game where the Triplets didn’t look like the clear best team in the BIG3. Iso Joe will be looking to pick it up in week 7 and confirm the Triplets spot in the playoffs.
Ghost Ballers lost a tough game to Trilogy. They were without leading scorer Mike Taylor in the game. Taylor brings the energy that Ghost Ballers thrive on to get wins. Ricky Davis led the way with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Chris Johnson and Alex Scales each chipped in 10 points and 5 boards in the loss. Ghost Ballers have to win in week 7 if they want to stay in the playoff mix. If they take a defeat they would have to win in week 8 and rely on point differential to sneak into the playoffs.
This is a must win game for Ghost Ballers if they want to stay in the mix for the playoffs. Triplets can cash their ticket to the Bahamas with a win in week 7.
