Game 1: Triplets (6-1) vs Tri-State (5-2)
Triplets got a massive bounce back win in week 7 against Ghost Ballers. They won by 32 points, which is the largest margin of victory in BIG3 history. With the win, Triplets were the first team to clinch a spot in the playoffs. Alan Anderson stayed hot the whole game, finishing with 22 points and 6 rebounds. He made five 3 pointers in the game. Iso Joe was on triple-double watch finishing with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. In week 8 Triplets are playing to stay the number one seed going into the playoffs.
Tri-State got a much needed win in week 7 against the surging Killer 3’s who had won 4 straight games. Tri-State had 3 players in double figures which led them to the win. Justin Dentmon led the way with 19 points and 6 assists. He also made two 4 pointers in the game. Jason Richardson finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Larry Sanders chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Tri-State are currently sitting in a tie for second place with solid point differential, but they need a win in week 8 to solidify their playoff spot.
Triplets have already clinched their playoff spot, but need a win to stay as the top seed. Tri-State are sitting well with their point differential, but a win guarantees them a playoff spot. Jason Richardson on Joe Johnson is the matchup to watch in the game.
Game 2: Trilogy (5-2) vs Killer 3’s (4-3)
Trilogy had one of the comebacks of the season against Power in week 7. After being down the whole game Trilogy brought it back when Power was three points away from winning. Jarrett Jack led the way with 27 points and five rebounds. Amir Johnson also chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Isaiah Briscoe had a quiet game with 7 points, but he is another player that can get his own shot whenever Trilogy need him to. Trilogy are sitting at (5-2) on the season in a tie for second place, but they have the best point differential out of all the (5-2) teams.
Killer 3’s are coming off their first loss since week 2. Tri-State had too many weapons for the Killer 3’s to contain. Donte Greene had another strong game for Killer 3’s finishing with 20 points and seven rebounds. Off the bench, CJ Watson had 11 points and five rebounds. No one else on Killer 3’s scored more than 2 points in their week 7 matchup. Frank Nitty will look to get more involved in week 8. Killer 3’s must win their week 8 matchup if they want to make the playoffs. Killer 3’s also have to make up some point differential, so they will be looking to win by a significant margin.
Trilogy will be looking to secure that second seed with a win in week 8. Killer 3’s have to win to give themselves any chance of making the playoffs. It will be interesting to see who Killer 3’s have guarding Jarrett Jack. Jack has been a scoring machine in the BIG3 this season.
Game 3: Power (3-4) vs Ball Hogs (3-4)
Power lost a closely contested game to Trilogy in week 7. They had the lead all the way to 47 points and couldn’t close it out. Jarrett Jack was too much for Power to handle. Power missed Royce White again in week 7. Power are officially eliminated from playoff contention so they are playing for pride and to put on a show. In week 7, Dušan Bulut led the way for Power with 24 points, four rebounds, and three assists. He will look to stay hot on offense in week 8.
Ball Hogs are also eliminated from playoff contention and will be looking to end their season on a high. Leandro Barbosa continued his MVP caliber season in week 7 nearly posting a triple double. He finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Jodie Meeks also chipped in 14 points in the week 7 matchup.
A matchup to watch in this game is Leandro Barbosa and Dušan Bulut. They are both playmakers that have been lighting up the scoring, but also getting their teammates involved.
Game 4: Ghost Ballers (4-3) vs 3 Headed Monsters (5-2)
Ghost Ballers matched up with the Triplets at the wrong time in week 7. Ghost Ballers were also without their leading scorer Mike Taylor who is out for the rest of the season with a groin injury. Ghost Ballers lost by 32 points, which not only counts as a loss on their record, it also chips into the solid point differential margin they had built this season. Ghost Ballers need a win in week 8 to give themselves a chance of making the playoffs.
3 Headed Monsters got a strong win against Ball Hogs in week 7 to get them to (5-2). Reggie Evans and Kevin Murphy each scored more than 20 points in the same game for the first time this season. Reggie Evans won Microsoft Player of the Week for the second week in a row on the back of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Murphy had 21 points in the win. If Evans and Murphy can keep up this level of scoring they will be a threat in the playoffs to anyone.
The matchup to watch in this game is between Ricky Davis and Kevin Murphy. Davis will need to keep Murphy quiet if Ghost Ballers have a chance at winning the game. 3 Headed Monsters and Ghost Ballers are both in need of a win in week 8. 3 Headed Monsters will clinch playoffs with a win and Ghost Ballers need to win and make up point differential.
