These selections are made based on a panel of experts.
1. TRIPLETS (NO CHANGE)
(3-0)
They are who we thought they were.
Are any of us surprised? The Triplets got it done again this weekend with an impressive win over the surging Trilogy. Reigning MVP Joe Johnson led the way again in week 3 for the Triplets with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. Triplets also got solid contributions from Alan Anderson and Jannero Pargo with 10 and 9 points respectively. Trilogy were right there in the game, but Joe Johnson is just unstoppable. The Triplets remain at the top of the Power Rankings and seemingly won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
Week 4: Triplets (3-0) vs Enemies (1-2)
2. TRILOGY (NO CHANGE)
(2-1)
Trilogy lost a closely contested game to the Triplets. Jarrett Jack, Isaiah Briscoe, and James White all played hard and put up double digit games, but Joe Johnson was too much to handle for them. Isaiah Briscoe couldn’t get it going from the outside, only shooting 1 for 7 from three. Trilogy are still a team that will be competing for the playoffs down the stretch this season, the shots just weren’t falling on Saturday. They’ll should get back in a groove when they host the hapless Aliens (0-3) in week 4.
Week 4: Aliens (0-3) vs Trilogy (2-1)
3. POWER (UP 1)
(2-1)
Power were in need of a bounce back win and they got it against the then undefeated Ball Hogs. Royce White and Joe Alexander each scored 14 points in the win for Power. The Power did a great job of using their size against the smaller guards of the Ball Hogs. Power line up against the Killer 3’s in week 4 who are coming off their first win of the season. Power may be higher in the rankings if Cuttino Mobley didn’t suffer a thigh injury late in the game, leaving their lineup in Dalls in question. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter for injury updates.
Week 4: Killer 3’s (1-2) vs Power (2-1)
4. TRI-STATE (UP 3)
(2-1)
“I was just trying to have some fun.” – Larry Sanders
Tri-State got a much needed win against an undefeated Ghost Ballers team. This turned into a really chippy game with both Larry Sanders and Mike Taylor being ejected, but Tri-State got the job done. Jason Richardson had another big game for Tri-State with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Richardson even turned back the clock and had a highlight reel dunk from the baseline. Tony Wroten and Earl Clark each chipped in 9 points to the win. Jason Richardson hit the game winning 3 pointer to land Tri-State at (2-1) for the season. Jason Richardson has been the spark Tri-State needed and they are looking like a real threat to make the playoffs. These are dangerous times, with teams from 2 through 10 separated by only 1 game. It’s important to keep up the momentum and Tri-State has a great opportunity to do just that against 3’s Company next week.
Week 4: 3’s Company (1-2) vs Tri-State (2-1)
5. BALL HOGS (NO CHANGE)
(2-1)
What’s real?
Ball Hogs lost a closely contested game to Power even with 3 players scoring all their points. Leandro Barbosa led the way with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jodie Meeks also chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Will McDonald rounded out the team with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Royce White and Joe Alexander were really able to get down low in the paint and dominate the guards for the Ball Hogs. Ball Hogs are still a contender in the 2021 BIG3 season. They will look to get more players involved in the scoring in week 4 against the Ghost Ballers another surprising team. Which team will prove to be a true contender, and who just got lucky?
Week 4: Ghost Ballers (2-1) vs Ball Hogs (2-1)
6. 3 HEADED MONSTERS (NO CHANGE)
(2-1)
3 Headed Monsters got a narrow victory on the back of big games from Kevin Murphy and Reggie Evans. Murphy led the scoring with 24 and Evans dropped a double double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. 3 Headed Monsters were efficient from the field shooting 50% for the game. The 3 Headed Monsters go into week 4 sitting at (2-1) having found a gem in the draft with Kevin Murphy. 3 Headed Monsters have looked solid through the first three weeks of the season and will look to continue their good form down the stretch. Help is on the way in the form of a Week 4 match-up against the sluggish Bivouac.
Week 4: 3 Headed Monsters (2-1) vs Bivouac (0-3)
7. GHOST BALLERS (DOWN 4)
(2-1)
Ghost Ballers lost a scrappy and chippy game to Tri-State. Mike Taylor was having another big game before Larry Sanders had a hard foul on him, which led to both players being ejected. Before the ejection Mike Taylor had 19 points and 7 rebounds. Ghost Ballers will look to get more out of their big man Chris Johnson in week 4. He had been a great option on offense for the Ghosts this season, but didn’t get it going in week 3. Ricky Davis had 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals for the Ghost Ballers in the matchup. The Ghost Ballers are still a threat to any team this season. Watch for them to make a run down the stretch.
Week 4: Ghost Ballers (2-1) vs Ball Hogs (2-1)
8. 3’S COMPANY (NO CHANGE)
(1-2)
3’s Company lost a close game to the 3 Headed Monsters. Kevin Murphy was just too much to handle for 3’s Company on Saturday. Jeremy Pargo led the way in scoring for 3’s Company, but he couldn’t add to his league lead of five 4 pointers. He had 14 points and 4 assists in the contest. Mario Chalmers and Drew Gooden had 13 and 10 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 24 from Kevin Murphy. 3’s Company have found some scoring with Pargo, so they will need him to step up in a week 4 matchup with Tri-State.
Week 4: 3’s Company vs Tri-State
9. ENEMIES (UP 1)
(1-2)
Enemies got their first win of the season against Bivouac. Perry Jones, Elijah Stewart, and Nick Young all scored double digits to lift Enemies to the win. Perry Jones hit the game winning 4 pointer to seal it. He finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Young got it going in week 3 with 13 points and three 3 pointers. He had more points in the first 10 minutes of this game then he did the entire first two weeks. A much needed change of pace for the former Trojan.
Enemies got in the win column with their leading scorer Isaiah Austin only scoring 6 points. Enemies have a tough match-up next week when they face off against the reigning champs.
Week 4: Triplets (3-0) vs Enemies (1-2)
10. KILLER 3’S (UP 1)
(1-2)
Killer 3’s got their first win of the season against the Aliens in a tightly contested matchup. Frank Nitty brought the house down with a Sportscenter Top 10 poster over Jason Maxiell. Donte Greene led the scoring for Killer 3’s with 21. Frank Nitty and CJ Watson each chipped in 11. CJ Watson provided the spark off the bench that Killer 3’s needed early in the game. The Frank Nitty dunk swung the momentum in favor of Killer 3’s and they mounted a comeback late in the game. Killer 3’s will try and get the wins going in a week 4 matchup with Power.
Week 4: Killer 3’s (1-2) vs Power (2-1)
11. ALIENS (DOWN 1)
(0-3)
Aliens lost a close game to Killer 3’s. They were up down the stretch, but couldn’t close it out. Brandon Rush led the Aliens with 22 points and 7 rebounds. He also made 4 threes in the game. If Rush can get going from behind the arc like he did in 2019 the Aliens have the potential to win some games this season. Andre Owens also chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. The Aliens look to get their first win of the season in week 4 against a strong Trilogy team.
Week 4: Aliens (0-3) vs Trilogy (2-1)
12. BIVOUAC (NO CHANGE)
(0-3)
Bivouac were right there in the first half, but just couldn’t stay with the Enemies in the second. Bivouac made two roster changes, bringing in Quincy Miller and Jermaine Taylor so it will take time for them to build chemistry. Bivouac are in need of a consistent 3 point shooter who opponents can’t afford to leave open. Bivouac face off with a tough 3 Headed Monsters team in week 4, so we will see if they can get in the win column. The BIG3 is an 8 week season. Going 0-4 is a death knell.
Week 4: 3 Headed Monsters (2-1) vs Bivouac (0-3)
