These selections are based on a panel of experts.
1. Triplets (No Change)
The reigning champs got it done again in week 4 and stay at the top of the rankings. They had a dominant victory over the Enemies by a score of 50-39. Joe Johnson led the way with 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists. The first half of the game was the most dominant the Triplets have looked this season. Going into the half the Triplets were up 26-9 over the Enemies. Jannero Pargo had his best game of the season finishing with 17 points. He made 5 three pointers including the step-back game winner. There was never a time in the game the Triplets were in any danger of losing.
Week 5: Triplets (4-0) vs 3 Headed Monsters (3-1)
2. Trilogy (No Change)
Trilogy move to 3-1 on the season with a dominant win over Aliens by a score of 50-32. Trilogy was in control the whole game and had 3 players finish in double digits for scoring. Jarrett Jack led the way with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Jack also came out of the game for most of the second half because they lead continued to grow. Isaiah Briscoe had a strong impact off the bench with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Amir Johnson knocked down 2 three pointers including the game winner to finish with 10 points and 5 boards. The story for Trilogy was the strong defense. The only player for Aliens to have double digits in scoring was Andre Owens with 12. If Isaiah Briscoe can start to consistently knock down 3’s, Trilogy will continue to be a championship contender this season.
Week 5: Trilogy (3-1) vs Ball Hogs (2-2)
3. Ghost Ballers (Up 4)
Ghost Ballers got back in the win column in a big matchup with Ball Hogs. Ghost Ballers move to 3-1 for the season. The Ghosts beat the Ball Hogs 50-35 in dominant fashion. Mike Taylor led the way for the Ghost Ballers in the game with 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Chris Johnson had a slow first half, but willed the Ghost Ballers to a victory finishing with a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Ricky Davis had a strong game with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Ghost Ballers only played those three guys the whole game and they got the job done. Ghost Ballers looked the best they have all season in arguably their toughest matchup.
Week 5: Ghost Ballers (3-1) vs 3’s Company (1-3)
4. Tri-State (No Change)
Tri-State got a big win against 3’s Company 50-45. They got the job done without their leading scorer Jason Richardson. Earl Clark led the way for Tri-State with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Nate Robinson also stepped up with 15 points and 2 steals. Making his Tri-State debut Justin Dentmon showed out with 16 points and 4 assists. Dentmon made a few clutch shots down the stretch. Tri-State getting the win without Richardson shows the depth they have which could be crucial if they want to make a run into the postseason.
Week 5: Tri-State (3-1) vs Power (2-2)
5. 3 Headed Monsters (Up 1)
3 Headed Monsters got a gritty win against Bivouac that went down to the wire. 3 Headed Monsters won the game 51-48, but Bivouac came back from down big to make it close. Reggie Evans had a big game with a double double, scoring 20 points, and pulling down 17 boards. Rashard Lewis and Kevin Murphy each hit double digits in scoring. Lewis had 13 points and 4 rebounds. Murphy had 12 points and 8 rebounds. 3 Headed Monsters have a really good roster with potential to beat anyone this season.
Week 5: Triplets (4-0) vs 3 Headed Monsters (3-1)
6. Power (Down 3)
Power lost a physical game to Killer 3’s 50-41. Dušan Bulut made his BIG3 debut and showed signs of what he is capable of as a point guard in the league. Power ultimately came up short without their captain, Cuttino Mobley, who was out with a thigh injury. Royce White led the way for Power with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Darnell Jackson had 11 points and 9 rebounds for Power. In his debut, Bulut had 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Bulut will definitely be looking to get more involved on offense in the coming weeks. Power fall to 2-2 for the season, but are still considered one of the best teams in the BIG3 when fully healthy. Whether or not that will happen is left to be seen.
Week 5: Tri-State (3-1) vs Power (2-2)
7. Killer 3’s (Up 3)
Killer 3’s got a big win over a strong Power team by a score of 50-41. Donte Greene led the way for Killer 3’s with 23 points and 11 rebounds. He is starting to become one of the most consistent scorers in the BIG3. Josh Powell and CJ Watson each finished with 10 points. Powell also had 6 rebounds in the contest. Watson had 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals to go along with his 10 points. Watson has been creating a spark off the bench that the Killer 3’s needed in their first couple games of the season. Killer 3’s are back to 2-2 and looking at a week 5 contest against Bivouac.
Week 5: Killer 3’s (2-2) vs Bivouac (0-4)
8. Ball Hogs (Down 3)
Ball Hogs had their worst loss of the season against Ghost Ballers 50-35. Leandro Barbosa led the way again, but he had limited help in week 4. Jodie Meeks had 11 points and 7 rebounds, but that was the extent for the Ball Hogs. Barbosa finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. He also made two 4 pointers in the game, which brought the Ball Hogs into touch, but it was too late to make the comeback. The Ball Hogs started 2-0 and were looking like the surprise of the season, but these last two weeks they’ve reverted to their old selves. They will look to get back in the win column in week 5 against a tough Trilogy team.
Week 5: Trilogy (3-1) vs Ball Hogs (2-2)
9. 3’s Company (Down 1)
3’s Company were without their leading scorer Jeremy Pargo for their week 4 matchup and it was noticeable. Mario Chalmers stepped up and finished with 26 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. He made four 3 pointers and one 4 pointer in the game. Chalmers was the only one in double digits for 3’s Company in the matchup. DerMarr Johnson had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. 3’s Company will look to get back on track in week 5 against the surging Ghost Ballers.
Week 5: Ghost Ballers (3-1) vs 3’s Company (1-3)
10. Enemies (Down 1)
Enemies had a tough matchup with Triplets and things went south quick as they were down at the half 26-9. They brought it back a little in the second half, but the deficit was too much to overcome. Enemies ended up losing the contest 50-39. Elijah Stewart had 16 points and 9 rebounds. He also made four 3 pointers. Perry Jones chipped in 11 points with two 4 pointers. Elijah Stewart was really the only energy that the Enemies had in the game. They will look to get Nick Young and Isaiah Austin more involved in their week 5 matchup with the very beatable Aliens.
Week 5: Enemies (1-3) vs Aliens (0-4)
11. Aliens (No Change)
Aliens are off to an 0-4 start in the BIG3 season. In week 4 they lost to Trilogy 50-32. Andre Owens was the only one in double digits with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Aliens have struggled to find a consistent scorer this season and will need someone to step up soon if they want any chance of finishing the season 4-4. If they manage to finish the season 4-4 there is an outside chance they could sneak into the playoffs depending on other teams results. Brandon Rush led the BIG3 in three point shooting in 2019 so he needs to find that same shooting form from last season.
Week 5: Enemies (1-3) vs Aliens (0-4)
12. Bivouac (No Change)
Bivouac had their closest game of the season against 3 Headed Monsters. It was a gritty game that could have gone either way, but Bivouac came up short after making a late comeback. Bivouac lost 51-48, but came back after being down 25-17 at the half. Quincy Miller led the way for Bivouac with 19 points and 5 rebounds in the absence of Josh Smith and Will Bynum. Miller went down late with an ankle injury and did not return. Alonzo Gee stepped up after the injury and finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Bivouac looked better in week 4 than they have all season with new faces stepping up. Going forward look for Quincy Miller and Alonzo Gee to stay aggressive to try and get Bivouac in the win column.
Week 5: Killer 3’s (2-2) vs Bivouac (0-4)
