Tune in for the final week of the regular season on Saturday, August 21st at 1PM ET on CBS
Free Streaming coverage begins at 3PM ET on Triller and FITE
These selections are made based on a panel of experts
1. Triplets (No Change)
Triplets remain at the top of the power rankings for the 8th straight week. Triplets got a strong, bounce back win against Ghost Ballers. This was the biggest margin of victory in BIG3 history at 32 points. Alan Anderson led the way for Triplets with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Anderson was also lights out from behind the arc, shooting 5-10 from three point territory. Iso Joe had an all around strong game getting his teammates involved more this week. Iso Joe finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Teddy Gipson also chipped in 8 points in his return to the lineup in place of Jannero Pargo. After suffering their first loss of the season in week 6, Triplets made a statement with this win and officially clinched their spot in the playoffs.
2. Trilogy (Up 1)
Trilogy had one of the comebacks of the season against Power. Power led the whole game until they got to 47 points. Jarrett Jack and Trilogy charged back, took the lead, and won the game. Jack finished with 27 points and 5 rebounds, which led Trilogy to the win. Amir Johnson also had 10 points and 6 rebounds in the win. Trilogy are definitely a team that pose a threat to take down the defending champs. Isaiah Briscoe had a quiet game, but he is another player for Trilogy that can get buckets. Trilogy currently sit in a tie for second place, but have the best point differential out of all the teams at (5-2).
3. Tri-State (Up 1)
Tri-State got a big win against the surging Killer 3’s. Killer 3’s had won four straight games and Tri-State broke that streak. With three players in double figure scoring Tri-State had an all around effort to get the win. Justin Dentmon led the way with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Dentmon also made two 4 point shots in the game. Jason Richardson finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Larry Sanders returned to the lineup and finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Tri-State are in a tie for second place at (5-2) and they are in the middle of the point differential between Trilogy and 3 Headed Monsters.
4. 3 Headed Monsters (Up 2)
3 Headed Monsters got a gritty win against Ball Hogs in week 7. Reggie Evans and Kevin Murphy each scored more than 20 points to lead 3 Headed Monsters to this much needed win in the playoff race. Coming off a Microsoft Player of the Week performance in week 6, Evans had another big game finishing with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Murphy finished with 21 points in the win. 3 Headed Monsters are sitting in a tie for second place at (5-2), but they have the lowest point differential out of the second place teams. As of right now they are in the playoffs, but they have a must win game in week 8.
5. Killer 3’s (Down 3)
Killer 3’s winning streak came to an end in week 7 at the hands of Tri-State. Donte Greene had another strong game, finishing with 20 points and 7 rebounds. CJ Watson had a strong contribution off the bench with 11 points and 5 rebounds. No one else for Killer 3’s scored more than two points in the game. Frank Nitty had a slow game and couldn’t get it going like he did against Triplets in week 6. Killer 3’s now sit in a tie for 5th place and have a better score differential than Ghost Ballers who are also 4-3. Needless to say, week 8 is a must win game for Killer 3’s if they want to make it back to the playoffs.
6. Ghost Ballers (Down 1)
Ghost Ballers suffered their worst loss of the season by 32 points at the hands of the Triplets. It was clear that Ghost Ballers missed their leading scorer Mike Taylor who is out for the season with a groin injury. No one on the Ghost Ballers scored more than 7 points which led to the blowout win for Triplets. The loss also came at a cost because the Ghost Ballers point differential now has them below Killer 3’s in the standings. If Ghost Ballers want to make the playoffs they will need to find a way to replace the scoring and energy that Mike Taylor brought to the team the whole season.
7. Power (No Change)
Power have been eliminated from playoff contention with their loss to Trilogy in week 7. Power were in the lead the whole game and couldn’t close it out when it mattered most. Dušan Bulut led the way for Power with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Derrick Byars also chipped in 10 points in the loss. Power missed the physicality that Royce White brings. Now that Power are eliminated from playoff contention they are playing for pride in their week 8 matchup with Ball Hogs.
8. Ball Hogs (No Change)
Ball Hogs are also eliminated from playoff contention after a week 7 loss to 3 Headed Monsters. Ball Hogs just had no answer for big man Reggie Evans down low. Leandro Barbosa was on triple-double watch in the game finishing with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Barbosa has had an MVP caliber season, but his team will miss the playoffs. Jodie Meeks also chipped in 14 points and 4 rebounds in the loss. Much like Power, Ball Hogs will now be playing for pride in week 8.
