The other BIG3 rookie the Aliens added this offseason was Latvian swingman Janis Timma. Timma brings over a decade of professional experience to the Aliens, as he went pro in Latvia when he was just 17 years old. Since then, he’s played in Russia, Spain, and Greece, and recently spent time with the Lakeland Magic of the G-League.
Timma is a versatile athlete and has actually won two dunk contest championships (he was the Latvian dunk contest champion in 2014, and won the VTB United League dunk contest in 2017), but his game has become extremely perimeter-oriented. During the 2021-22 season with the aforementioned Lakeland Magic, 102 of his 127 field goal attempts came from three-point range. It’ll be interesting to see what he’ll be able to do in his first year playing FIREBALL3.
