After a Hall of Fame career that included four Olympic Gold Medals, two WNBA titles and three WNBA MVP awards, Lisa Leslie added BIG3 Coach of the Year to her list of accolades after her very first season on the bench in 2019.
Leslie led the Triplets, an expansion team, to a league-best 7-1 regular season record and postseason victories over 3 Headed Monsters and Killer 3s as they captured the BIG3 championship in their first season. Leslie was the second consecutive woman to win Coach of the Year after Power’s Nancy Lieberman took home the honors in 2018.
The first person to dunk in a WNBA game, Leslie is a living legend who was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. When she came to the BIG3, she joined fellow league champion coach Nancy Lieberman as the only women to serve as the head coach of a professional men’s team, further demonstrating the BIG3’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
