Bivouac.
Things did not go according to plan for Bivouac in 2021. They were the only team to fail to win a game, finishing the season with an 0-6 season. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the team decided to completely clean house in the offseason – with the exception of Will Bynum (who didn’t even play a full season with the team), nobody from Bivouac’s 2021 roster will return to the team in 2022.
Replacing them will be new Captain Gerald Green, a 12-year NBA veteran who has used his prodigious leaping ability and beautiful shooting stroke to consistently fill it up with style everywhere he’s gone throughout his career.
Serving as his Co-Captains will be former Arizona State standout and post-up scoring machine Ike Diogu and lightning-quick guard Will Bynum.
Rounding out the roster will be Corey Brewer, whose length, speed, and motor allows him to constantly grab 50-50 balls, pick up extra baskets on offense, and make impact plays on defense, as well as big man Jeff Ayres.
There will also be a major change on the sidelines. Reggie Theus served as the team’s head coach last season, but he’ll be coaching the 3 Headed Monsters in 2022. Meanwhile, former 3HM coach and NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton will take over head coaching duties for Bivouac.
Turning over an entire roster and getting a new head coach is risky, but it would be more or less impossible for Bivouac to have a worse season than they did in 2021, so taking a risk was almost certainly the right way to go.
(Update: After Week two of the 2022 season, Bivouac released Ike Diogu and replaced him with Garlon Green, the brother of team Captain Gerald Green.)
