After another unstoppable season Iso Joe takes home the Too Hard to Guard Award
Joe Johnson wasted no time getting hot in the 2021 season. In week one Iso Joe had 27 points and 12 rebounds, which secured him the first of four Microsoft Player of the Week awards. Johnson averaged a league high 22.8 points per game this season, with a season high of 34 in week two against Power. Weeks one and two were the first steps in Iso Joe becoming the winner of the Too Hard to Guard award in the BIG3.
One on one, no one could stop him and as a result in the last couple weeks of the season teams started to double team him. Double teaming is very uncommon in three on three basketball with the extra space on the floor. When Johnson scored more than 18 points in a game, Triplets were undefeated this season. Johnson eclipsed that number in five out of six of the Triplets wins this season.
There was no shortage of highlights for Joe. One of his most impressive highlights came in week three against Trilogy hitting a mean crossover then went around the back into his patented fadeaway.
For the second season in a row Johnson has averaged more than 20 points per game, putting him in a category of his own in the BIG3. Johnson was one of two players in the BIG3 this season to average a double double and the only player to average a double double while scoring 20 plus points per game. On top of the 22.8 points per game, Johnson also averaged 10.4 rebounds per game.
In week four against Enemies, Johnson put on a show with his highlight driving on Perry Jones, creating some separation and hitting a tough, contested fadeaway. In the same matchup he had a double double with 23 points and 15 rebounds making him a highlight machine this season.
Johnson joins Al Harrington and Will Bynum as winners of the “Too Hard To Guard” award.
