3 Headed Monsters.
The 3-Headed Monsters are one of the most consistent teams in the history of the BIG3, but have yet to capture a League Championship. They’ve made it to at least the semifinals every season, and made the Finals in both 2017 and 2021. Unfortunately, Trilogy was able to defeat them in both of the Championship games they were a part of. In 2022, 3HM had yet another fantastic campaign, only to lose a heartbreaking 51-49 game to Power in the Semifinals.
2022 was the first season 3HM will have to deal with major changes to their roster and their coaching staff, and they handled the challenge with aplomb. Even in the absence of Reggie Evans, one of the best players in the history of the BIG3, 3HM was able to stay on top of the league. This was thanks in large part to the emergence of Kevin Murphy, who followed up his 2021 Rookie of the Year season with a dominant 2022 Campaign that saw him win the BIG3 MVP award.
As mentioned above, Reggie Evans missed the 2022 BIG3 season due to injury. Evans is the best rebounder in the history of the league and one of the best all-around players, so to say his return would make a major impact would be an understatement. 3HM have also added Jordan Adams and Robert Dozier to their roster, so we’ll see what kind of impact the two BIG3 rookies can make.
There was a major change on the bench as well, and it also worked out fantastically. Gary Payton coached the 3-Headed Monsters from the inception of the league, but in 2022 he took the head coaching spot for Bivouac. In return, Reggie Theus, who had served as Bivouac’s Head Coach, took the clipboard for 3HM. Theus thrived with his new team, and was named the 2022 BIG3 Coach of the Year.
