3 Headed Monsters.
The 3-Headed Monsters enter the league as the most consistent team in the history of the BIG3, but have yet to capture a League Championship. They’ve made it to at least the semifinals every season, and made the Finals in both 2017 and 2021. Unfortunately, Trilogy was able to defeat them in both of the Championship games they were a part of.
This is the first season 3HM will have to deal with major changes to their roster and their coaching staff. Rashard Lewis, who won the league’s inaugural MVP award in 2017, still serves as the team’s Captain. The ageless Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and his signature pull-up shot will again join him as Co-Captain, and 2021 BIG3 Rookie of the Year Kevin Murphy will also be returning to the roster. New to the team is Co-Captain Jonathon Simmons.
Unfortunately for 3HM, Reggie Evans will miss the 2022 BIG3 season due to injury. Evans is the best rebounder in the history of the league and one of the best all-around players, so to say his presence will be missed would be an understatement. Attempting to fill his shoes will be AB Ndoye, the Senagalese big man who stands at an imposing 7’1.
There will be a major change on the bench as well. Gary Payton coached the 3-Headed Monsters from the inception of the league, but this year he will take the head coaching spot for Bivouac as their former coach, Reggie Theus, will take the clipboard for 3HM. Theus has coached as a head coach and assistant coach in college, the NBA, and the G-League as well as the BIG3, so switching teams should be an adjustment he’ll be able to manage.
(Update: After Week Two of the 2022 season, 3HM released AB N’Doye and filled his roster spot with Sammy Monroe)
