After spending 2022 with Tri State, Sanders will spend the 2023 Campaign with the Triplets.
Sanders is, first and foremost, a fearsome rim protector. He stands at 6’11, has a ludicrous 7’7 wingspan, and can get very far off the ground very fast. During his six seasons in the NBA, he averaged 1.8 blocks per game, and an absolutely astonishing 3.3 blocks per 36 minutes.
Unsurprisingly, Sanders proved to be one of the BIG3’s most dominant defensive forces in 2019 after being drafted third overall by the 3 Headed Monsters. He finished his rookie season tied for second in total blocks (9) and blocks per game (1.3). He also racked up 33 total rebounds and
posted an impressive field goal percentage of .583, which placed him in fourth among all players.
Sanders continued his defensive excellence in the 2021 season, winning the BIG3 Defensive Player of the Year award. He was a large factor in Tri State claiming the number one seed in the playoffs.
Sanders was drafted 15th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft out of VCU, where he was two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year. In the NBA, Sanders appeared in 238 regular-season games over six seasons, and averaged 6.4 Points, 5.7 Rebounds, and the aforementioned 1.8 blocks per game.
Like fellow BIG3 player Royce White, Sanders was one of the first NBA players to speak out about anxiety and mental health issues in the league.
