Charles Oakley will return as the coach of the Killer 3s for the 2023 season.
Oakley, who played 19 seasons in the NBA for the Bulls, Knicks, Raptors, Wizards, and Rockets, is best known for his time in New York. Over the course of his 10 seasons with the Knicks, he made a name for himself as one of the best rebounders and defenders in the league. Oakley is one of the toughest and most feared players in the history of the NBA, as he played with a legendary combination of physicality and intensity.
Oakley is 18th all-time in NBA games played and 21st all-time in rebounds. During his 10 years in New York, Knicks made the playoffs every year. Oakley became a fan favorite for his rugged style of play, determination, and love of his team and city. In the ’94 season with the Knicks, he started every single regular season and playoff game for an NBA record 107 starts in a single season. Oakley was named to the NBA All-Star Game and the NBA All-Defensive First Team
that same year. He was also named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1986 and the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1998. Throughout his career, he was revered by his teammates and always respected (and often feared) by his opponents.
“I couldn’t be happier to be a part of [the BIG3],” said Oakley in an interview. “Everyone seems to realize we are about to make history together as players. What an exciting opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best ever.”
