James White will serve as the Captain of Trilogy in 2022. He is the only player on the roster to have been with the team since the beginning of the BIG3 in 2017. White is also the only player in league history to have won two BIG3 championships. In the 2021 semifinal game, White scored 15 points and brought down 10 rebounds in the win.
White was a key contributor in Trilogy’s undefeated run to the 2017 league championship, and was named the 2017 BIG3 Defensive Player of the Year. In 2018, White averaged 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while continuing to excel on defense.
In 2019, White put up even better numbers and was still among the league’s best defenders. Averaging 14.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, he placed within the league’s top ten players in points, rebounds and blocks.
In college, White played one season at the University of Florida before transferring to the University of Cincinnati, where he became a three-year starter and was the Bearcats’ scoring leader (15.9 ppg) as a senior in 2005-06.
Nicknamed “Flight” for his athleticism and dunking ability, White was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 31st overall draft pick in 2006. White played parts of three seasons in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and New York Knicks. He also played professionally overseas in Turkey, Russia, Italy and Iran. He was a D-League standout before NBA teams looked to the D-League to fill roster spots the way they do today, and averaged an eye-popping 25.9 points on 54.9% shooting as a member of the Anaheim Arsenal in the 2008-09 season.
